Role Summary:
Banzai is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technical Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the accounting operations, ensuring financial reporting accuracy, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) audit standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will play a crucial role in driving our financial success as we continue to scale and expand our business.
Expectations of Role:
- Responsible for monitoring new accounting developments for U.S. GAAP principles, particularly regarding those that have a potential impact on the company, including the development of the standards and influencing the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) through the comment letter process; communication and training at all organization levels regarding any such new accounting changes.
- Work directly with business units on a variety of US GAAP technical accounting questions, projects, and reviews.
- Perform a detailed level review for accuracy of our earnings press releases, quarterly 10Q and annual 10K filings, SEC registration statements and the proxy statement in a timely manner to ensure compliance with required disclosures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and drive and document process, operational, and procedural improvements.
- Lead/assist with special projects as needed.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for financial performance improvement.
- Act as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters, providing guidance and support to the finance team and other departments.
- Mentor, coach, and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP / Cash to GAAP, PCAOB audit standards, and other relevant accounting regulations.
- Proven experience with financial statement preparation, implementation of internal controls, and audit coordination / support.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (our ERP system), and other financial tools including Excel, Stripe (our billing system), and Carta (our cap table management system). ERP migration and implementation experience is a plus.
- Experience with IPO / SPAC readiness, ASC 606 (Rev Rec / QofE), ASC 718 (Stock Comp), ASC 805 (Valuation and BCA), ASC 820 Fair Value Measurements, ASC 350 Intangibles - Goodwill and Other
- Capital transactions / funds flow, and debt accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex accounting issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
